The Mongol Rally

April11

We are now well on our way to Mongolia! For live journey updates, please check out the main Blog!

A team of five brave men will drive Ten Thousand Miles across the world in a 1956 Green Goddess Fire Engine, and deliver it to the Mongolian fire services to help combat domestic fire disasters—e.g. forest fires. Donations raised will go to our donor charities: Mercy Corp and Future Hope.

Our team of merry men have decided to complete this epic adventure in a 1956 Bedford Green Goddess Fire Engine. This easy to maintain and versatile vehicle which served in the British Armed Services until 2005—with it’s off-road and large load capacity—will be of great use to the Mongolian fire services when we donate her upon arriving in Ulaan Baatar.

We’ve made a wacky home-made camera-taped-to-shoulder trailer for our speed machine, which you can enjoy below:

The rally is run by a group called ‘The Adventurists‘ who are proffesional adventure specialists, only dealing in the most extreme and epic of adventures.

“The Mongol Rally isn’t just about adventure, it’s also about raising huge sacks of cash for some great charities. In 2007 the Mongol Rally topped £200,000 and all the teams hope to smash that this year. Each team coming on the Rally raises a minimum of £1000 for the Rally charities. You can find out more about all the teams and the awesome work they do right here.”
